All eyes were on Upskill at this year’s Hannover Messe, the worlds’ largest industrial technology trade show. The enterprise augmented reality (AR) leader was honored as one of five finalists for the internationally renowned Hermes Award, given to a company whose solution is exhibited at Hannover for the first time. For Upskill, that solution is its next-generation Skylight AR platform, which offers a host of new features designed to lower the complexity of building, supporting and scaling AR.
Larry Turner, president and CEO of Hannover Fairs USA, recently profiled Upskill – the only U.S.-based company shortlisted for the Hermes Award – in an Automation.com feature. Turner notes that Skylight met all the prestigious award’s evaluation criteria, including its technological innovativeness and the benefits it brings to the industry, the environment, and society.
As demonstrated at Hannover Messe, Skylight is designed to empower industrial workforces by connecting to existing data systems, authoring data-driven workflows and delivering line-of-sight instructions to workers via wearables devices. Large multinational organizations like Boeing, GE and Coca-Cola are have realized promising results with Skylight, including increased worker productivity, fewer errors and more efficient equipment maintenance. As Turner puts it, “Skylight is the real human connection to the Internet of Things (IoT).”
